From industrial data to an industrial AI ecosystem
Germany’s federal government said Chancellor Friedrich Merz met NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang in Berlin on June 13, 2025, to discuss sovereign AI infrastructure and Germany’s AI ecosystem. NVIDIA and the German federal government also signed a declaration of intent to work together on physical AI models.
The German government said it is focused on drawing on the strengths of the manufacturing and automotive industries, while encouraging the country’s small and medium-sized business ecosystem to adopt AI and use companies’ existing data.
“The biggest advantage we have in Germany is our so-called Mittelstand. Please open your doors for AI to make use of your data,” Merz said.
The collaboration will also expand NVIDIA’s work with Germany’s Industry 4.0 Platform to promote the widespread use of industrial AI and establish an industrial AI ecosystem in Europe.
NVIDIA announced planned investments in four German startups: Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace. The startups cover AI-powered robotics, healthcare information systems, generative audio models and satellites, respectively.
