U.S. government-linked wallets moved 833.6 BTC and about 40,285 BNB, with the two transfers together valued at about $103 million. Existing reports have not confirmed that the assets were sold.
BTC went to Coinbase Prime; BNB moved through intermediaries
The government-linked wallet moved 833.6 BTC to addresses associated with Coinbase Prime deposits, while the BNB moved through multiple intermediary transactions to an unlabeled address.
Existing reports have not confirmed that the U.S. government sold the assets. CoinDesk said a transfer is not the same as a sale.
“A transfer is not the same as a sale,” market commentator Jose Rosell said. He added that, under a March 2025 executive order, bitcoin forfeited to the government is meant to be held in a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
CoinDesk reported that the U.S. government still holds about $27.5 billion in cryptocurrency, all seized in enforcement actions.
A TradingView News report said the 833.6 BTC represents well under 1% of about 324,000 BTC held by government-linked addresses and interpreted the movements as routine custody or consolidation work rather than a change in strategy.
